Career Center hosts social at Starbucks

This past Tuesday, the Career Center hosted a social at Starbucks designed to kick off the semester by talking with students about the many resources they offer. At the event, Career Center employees and students who have participated in career accelerator programs and previous internships were present to answer questions and provide advice to their fellow Greyhounds.

Loyola has a dedicated team working to facilitate the process and ease the stress of interviewing, tackling internships, and applying for jobs. Julia Mulry ’20 explained why she was there helping out.

“I was there discussing my experiences last summer interning at Pace University as a media relations intern as well as my current social media internship within the Office of Marketing and Communications here at Loyola. I’m always happy to share the tips I’ve learned regarding the application and interview process as well as the ways I used the Career Center to secure my internships.”

Upcoming events sponsored by the Career Center include a practice interview program beginning on Thursday, Jan. 31 and LinkedIn headshots beginning Feb. 12 outside of Boulder. For more information about upcoming events, visit Handshake.

Eileen Hiebler, the associate director of Career Connections, which is a section of the Career Center focused on coaching students for their careers as well as contacting their potential employers, described the upcoming practice interview program. “Interview questions will be general, and all majors are welcome,” she said. “It is a perfect practice opportunity.” The practice interviews will be taking place in the Alumni House, located on the Evergreen campus.

The Career Center has many opportunities for Loyola students to utilize in the crucial time period leading up to getting a job.

“Whether you are an undecided freshman starting out, a senior accepting job offers, or truly anywhere in between, there is someone at the Career Center ready to assist you in any way they can,” said Mulry.
