Fellow Greyhounds,
Congratulations on completing another academic year! Here at The Greyhound, we’re proud to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and look ahead at what’s next.
Loyola’s student newspaper has made some amazing strides in the past year. To start, we’ve created some brand new categories…
- The Greyhound Guide to Weekends: our weekly segment sponsored by Miss Shirley’s Café
- Talks with Terry: a monthly interview series with President Terry Sawyer
- Campus Frames and Charm City Frames: new subcategories within our Photography section
Audience engagement has soared. We’ve surpassed 100,000 Instagram views per month and reached over 70,000 article views on our website. It reflects our online content output, which continues to climb with almost 3,000 articles published online.
This year also marks our largest editorial team yet, with 15 student editors committed to strengthening our campus presence. Our team advocated for the importance of student journalism before both the Communication and Media Advisory Board and the Loyola College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board, reinforcing The Greyhound’s role as an essential voice within our university community.
Our print editions remain strong, with growing demand from students and faculty for even more frequent issues. Thanks to generous community support, including an anonymous $5,000 donation, continued partnerships, and valued sponsorships, we’re able to expand our community efforts.
And we’re just getting started.
In 2027, The Greyhound will celebrate its 100-year anniversary. Plans are already underway for a major centennial celebration, welcoming alumni back to campus to honor a century of student journalism.
As we prepare for this milestone, I’m proud to introduce our 2026-2027 leadership team.
Editor-in-Chief Roxy Bahari ’27 began her work with The Greyhound as Photo Editor in Spring 2025 and has continued in the newly established Multimedia Editor role throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. Through her leadership and expansion of storytelling, she has strengthened the paper’s multimedia presence, elevated its creative direction, and helped shape a more dynamic newspaper.
“Having had such strong mentors and leaders this year and in years past, I plan to take that same leadership style and work ethic into next year as Editor-in-Chief. I’m excited to foster a community that’s been built on collaboration, trust, and friendship in an environment where our passions are not only elevated but celebrated. I feel incredibly grateful to lead such a talented team and continue reporting the news on campus, in Baltimore, and beyond,” Bahari said.
Managing Editor Alex Yates ’28 joined The Greyhound in 2025 as a Copy Editor, building on her prior newspaper experience before Loyola. Her strong editorial background, command of AP style, and sharp attention to detail have helped uphold the publication’s standards for journalism. She brings both technical precision, bright encouragement, and a deep understanding of newsroom workflow to her leadership, and she will be Managing Editor during the fall.
“I love The Greyhound. It’s become a second home to me. I’m so thankful that things worked out the way they did, going from Copy Editor to Managing Editor. I feel like my experience with The Greyhound has helped me develop such strong skills as both a writer and a leader, and I’m so excited for everything Roxy and I have planned for the club’s 100th birthday!” Yates said.
Managing Editor Genevieve Hayes ’27 has contributed to The Greyhound in a range of roles since 2024, including Reporter, Print Edition Editor, and Social Media & Graphics Editor. Her experience across leadership, print production, and social media engagement grants her a strong sense for storytelling. She bridges content creation and presentation, and will be Managing Editor during the spring.
“The Greyhound has had a hugely positive impact on my Loyola experience since my sophomore year! I have been able to develop my skills with graphics, social media, and digital editing in a professional setting, and I am so grateful for the experience. I have made so many new friends and connections from The Greyhound as well, and I’ll forever cherish how working for this newspaper has shaped my past few years at Loyola. I’m so excited to spend my final year with The Greyhound, especially for its 100th birthday!” Hayes said.
We enter this next chapter with fresh ideas, bold goals, and continued commitment to telling stories.
Thank you for your continued support of The Greyhound. Keep an eye out for Strong News, Well Written!
Keep on reading,
Jacqueline Goldman
