Going into the new school year means approaching brand new seasons for each of Loyola’s 17 Division I sports teams. Before looking ahead and getting ourselves ready for the new wave of tournaments and games, it’s important to see where each of our teams left off.

Last year’s seasons ended accordingly:

  • Our men’s soccer team ended with a Patriot League record of 7-2-0 and 11-6-1 record overall. Their season came to an end in the Patriot League championship with a loss to Colgate in the first round of the tournament.

  • The volleyball team also fought throughout their 2017 season coming out of Patriot League with a 4-12 record and 13-16 record overall.
  • Both the men and women’s cross country teams finished their seasons in the top 10 at the Patriot League championships. The women’s team came in eighth and the men’s team in 10th.
  • Women’s track and field came out of their 2017-18 season with an eighthplace finish at their conference championship as well.

  • Men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams had stellar seasons. The men’s team finished fifth at the Patriot League championship while the women’s team finished sixth.

  • The women’s tennis team dominated throughout their season with a 14-4 record and an undefeated record at home.
  • Both of Loyola’s rowing teams fought hard as well. The women’s team competed in the Patriot League championship and finished ninth.
  • The men’s golf team at Loyola had a series of strong finishes in each of their tournaments. At the Princeton Invitational, the Greyhounds took third after a fourth place finish at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate.

The 2017-18 sports seasons came to a close with Loyola men’s and women’s lacrosse teams. The men had a stellar season. They finished with a 13-4 record as Patriot League champions and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament.Loyola’s women’s team finished strongly as well. Their ending record was 16-5 and a perfect 9-0 record in conference play.

The beginning of fall means new seasons for each of the fall sports. For Loyola, that means a series of new games for the volleyball team along with the men’s and women’s soccer teams. Each of the three teams had their home openers over the weekend of Aug. 25. The volleyball team hosted the Baltimore Bash where they came out 2-1 with victories over Siena and Towson. The men’s soccer team came out of their home opener Friday, Aug. 24 against Rutgers with a 3-0 win. Loyola’s women’s soccer team also had a victorious home opener against Saint Francis with a 1-0 finish. The Greyhounds’ home openers were all victorious and leave each of the teams excited to move forward in their seasons.
