Loyola’s campus continues to remain closed through tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 26 with no online classes being held. Maryland Governor Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency due to this snow and wind storm that has produced over 10 inches of snow in some areas. This is the first time Maryland has experienced this much snow since January of 2016.
Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students Tiffany Kinnard sent an email this past Friday encouraging local students to return to their homes, and to bring a friend or roommate if feasible. Kinnard also shared that if a power outage is to impact your residence halls, students may be asked to temporarily stay with friends in the buildings that have power.
The university will also be utilizing available vacant spaces in powered buildings such as the Student Center to help support students as needed. Information about food and dining services can be found here. Shuttle services will also not be available until further notice.
Precautions as this snow storm continues include staying off the roads, keeping all electronic devices charged, layering clothing, and preparing for power outages.
