Irish dance is surrounded by extreme precision, coordination, and organizing. At Loyola University Maryland, the team was only recently recognized as an official campus sport in 2024. For many of the dancers, being a part of the team helps connect them with their heritage and culture as well as helping them to stay active and feel like a part of a community. As Irish dance becomes less relevant in the media over the years, the dancers hope to bring their team to the light and encourage younger generations to keep the tradition strong. The Loyola Irish Dance Team continues to fight for the acknowledgement they deserve.
