Jobs

The Greyhound is looking for new staff members to fill writer, editor and photographer positions. The publication runs independently from the school, and being involved puts you right in the mix everything going on around campus.

We’re looking for motivated, dedicated students who want to help better The Greyhound as a fun, interesting and informative, constantly updated channel for campus and local news, well-voiced opinions, cultural dialogue, national and collegiate athletics and so much more.

News Editor:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, organization & layout of the News section, the assignment of weekly news stories and creating dynamic online content. Must be able to work on a deadline.

Sports Editor:

Assigns articles to different staff writers and also writes articles to be put online. As the Sports Editor, you would edit stories for grammar, punctuation, usage, etc. before giving it the OK to be put online. What articles you assign would be up to you… in the past we’ve done game stories for Loyola sports teams, feature Q&A stories on Loyola athletes and a few stories on professional sports. The Sports Editor is required to notify Athletic Communications 24 hours before gametime to have a spot reserved in the press box for a writer. When writing, you are expected to attend most home games.

Web Editor:

We need the help of someone more web-savvy than the rest of us to maintain the website. Hosted on WordPress, thegreyhound.org just needs some TLC from someone who knows some HTML and CSS.

Writers:

We’re covering campus news, Baltimore news, national news. We want your voice in our Opinions section (you can talk about anything! And people might listen to you here rather than through ranting in Facebook statuses). You like music? Movies? Food? Want to make a cultural statement? You’d thrive in the Arts and Society section. We want you to write about how good (or bad) the ’Hounds are doing on the court, field and track this week. We want your take on the current NFL, NBA, MLB NHL stats. If you want to write, there’s a place for you here.
