McNulty opened the scoring on a fast break early in the first quarter when Higgins found him flashing toward the goal. The game took a few minutes to settle down, and Spencer scored unassisted to make it 2-0. He then assisted on the next two goals from Lindley and Olmstead, which came within 10 seconds of each other. Scanlan scored his first at the 4:03 mark, then Duffy made it 6-0 before the quarter’s end.
Duffy scored again to open the second quarter, then Brown joined in the barrage to make it 8-0 with 12 minutes to go in the half. Spencer capped off the scoring run with his second of the day, then Navy finally stopped the bleeding with a goal from Michael Foster at 7:08. Spencer scored his third to tie the points record, then Jack Sweeney scored Navy’s second goal. Just before halftime, Spencer found Lindley on the doorstep to set the all time points record and give his team an 11-2 lead.
A feed from Spencer to Duffy made it 12-2 less than a minute into the third quarter. Loyola then slowed the tempo, holding Navy scoreless while adding two more goals over a span of nine minutes. Navy responded with back to back goals from Greyson Torain and Ryan Wade, but it was Spencer who capped off the third quarter scoring, making it 15-4.
The Hounds continued their attack with two goals in a row by Lindley. Navy fought on, and Patrick Walsh scored his team’s fifth and final goal with 6:53 left. Raba assisted Swindell on the final goal of the afternoon, finishing Loyola’s scoring fest at 18-5.
Loyola will play their second of four Patriot League games in a row next Saturday, as they travel to face Bucknell (2-5, 1-1) in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Face-off is at 1 p.m.
