The men’s basketball team led Navy for the game’s final 31 minutes and four players hit double figures as they defeated the Midshipmen 79-73 in a bounce-back game at Reitz Arena. The Hounds are now 10-13 overall, and 2-8 in the Patriot League.

Andrew Kostecka ’20 led the way with 21 points. Jaylin Andrews ’22 had 16 points, Isaiah Hart ’21 had 14, and Santi Aldama ’23 had 11 in his Loyola debut.

Loyola firmly controlled the first half, jumping out to a 42-30 lead on 65.2 percent shooting, including 52.9 percent from three-point range. They also improved their free-throw percentage, shooting 28 for 35 (80 percent).

A pair of Kostecka free throws four minutes into the second half put the Greyhounds up 49-36, which would be their largest lead. Navy pulled to within one point on two different occasions, but the Hounds responded with timely scoring runs.

Andrews, Kostecka, and Hart all made free throws late in the game to secure the win.

The Hounds will look to stay in the winner’s column when they travel to Holy Cross this Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
