The swimming and diving teams combined to win 29 total events in their dual meet at home against Fairfield on Saturday. The men’s team won 15 out of 16 races to claim a 198-81 victory, while the women’s team beat the Stags 182-113. 

Max Veryheyen ’23, Sung Lee ’22, and David Sears ’23 each won two individual races to lead the men’s team. Verheyen claimed first place in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events. Dylan Champagne ‘23 finished a close second in both races. 

Lee took part in the 100 and 200 butterfly events, earning winning times of 49.54 and 1:51.16. He also won the 200 medley relay with Conor Rutigliano ‘21, Jay Venit ‘20, and Jimmy Hayburn ‘22 to start the meet. 

Sears claimed victories in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. The Greyhounds swept the top five places in the 50 freestyle, with Hayburn finishing in front of Colin Anderson ‘21, Brendon Kolar ‘21, Alex Chan ‘20, and Brian Hess ‘22. 

A pack of other Greyhounds also had individual victories. Nick Pacitti ’21 won the 1000 freestyle, Rutigliano won the 100 backstroke, Anderson won the 100 free, Mark Boran ’21 won the 200 back, Matt Voight ’23 won the 200 individual medley. Jack Still ’23 also won the 1-meter dive event with a score of 223.79 points. 

The men’s team ended their day with a win in the 400 freestyle relay, led by Lee, Anderson, Hayburn, and Reid Hussey ‘22.

The women’s team won 14 of their 16 events, with six Greyhound swimmers winning multiple events: Elizabeth Walsh, Megan Dickey ‘22, Devin Cronin ‘20, Emma Schouten ‘21, Emily Koegl ‘20, and Jess Stolfi ‘22. 

The women’s side won the 200 medley relay to start the day as well, with the group of Walsh, Cronin, Dickey, and Anna Hayburn ’20 posting a time of 1:46.33.

Walsh won three individual events to lead the Hounds. She claimed first place in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and the 200 individual medley.

Schouten won the 200 freestyle and the 200 breaststroke, while also finishing second in the 500 freestyle. Cronin won the 100 breaststroke along with two second-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.

Dickey claimed the top spot in the 50 and 100 freestyle events with times of 52.31 and 24.22. Stolfi won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

The quartet of Hayburn, Dickey, Claire Bowser ‘23 and Sophie Jahan ‘22 ended the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay. 

The Greyhounds stay at Mangione Pool for the week, as they host Bucknell next Saturday in Patriot League action starting at 1:00 p.m.
