The women’s track and field team participated in Princeton University’s New Year Invitational to open the 2019-20 season. Three Greyhound runners won individual races on Saturday, led by a record-breaking performance in the 600 meters by Senna Ohlsson ’21.
Ohlsson set a school record in the 600-meter race with a time of 1:33.94, leading seven Greyhounds in the top eight in that race. Carly Spinnler ‘22 (1:40.13), Kayleigh Caggiano ‘20 (1:40.43), Jordyn Pugh ‘21 (1:41.63) and Grayce Heinemann ‘22 (1:42.16) also beat the previous school record time of 1:42.71.
Heather Merrifield ‘20 won the 400 meters with a time of 58.51, and Kate Ragone ‘20 won the mile race. Ohlsson also won the 4×400-meter relay along with Rachel Koller ‘20, Stephanie Tracy ‘23, and Maria Jaeckel ‘22.
Merrifield also ran two of the top-three 60-meter dashes in school history with times of 7.96 and 7.92, good for third place in the event. Ariana Santo Pietro ’20 also ran a 7.99, the fourth-best time in school history.
