We all knew it.

A few weeks ago, Kylie Jenner broke the internet, which isn’t really an uncommon occurrence for her family, when she confirmed her pregnancy that she had been hiding throughout its duration.  Alongside this post announcing the birth of her girl Stormi Webster and explaining that it had been a time period where she wanted the utmost privacy, she released a YouTube video documenting the experience.

In the video you see Jenner’s baby daddy Travis Scott, sister Kim Kardashian West with her newborn daughter Chicago, and the other pregnant sister Khloe Kardashian. The video is a sweet sentiment, as everyone who’s interviewed talks about how Jenner was made to be a mom. She seems to be surrounded by a good support system and ample baby gifts—Stormi already has a larger shoe collection than I do, and it’s only been a couple weeks.

But that’s to be expected. Jenner may be the youngest of her siblings, but she’s also one of the richest. Kylie Cosmetics is projected to be worth over $1 billion by the year 2022, meaning Jenner will effectively surpass the net worth of her older siblings—if she hasn’t already. Twenty may seem young to be a mom, but Jenner has indicated she has no plans to slow down her work life either. Jenner may be made to be a mom, but she’s made to be a mogul too.

However, the plan to keep Kylie’s pregnancy a secret seemed strange to a lot of people – it was glaringly obvious from many clues that she was hiding something, so it seemed rather pointless. She was notably absent from the annual Kardashian and Jenner Christmas card photo, seemed much more removed from the public eye, and even covered her stomach in a sister photo shoot. All of these hints at her pregnancy got the internet speculating over her pregnancy, which may have been the goal of her secrecy all along. However, sources have stated that Kylie simply wanted to keep her pregnancy, birth, and daughter out of the spotlight as much as possible.

Photos recently surfaced of Jenner’s first public appearance since her daughter was born, and the commentary has mostly been revolving around how skinny she looks after giving birth and whether she’s hired a nanny for the baby. It doesn’t seem like she wants to say much, which I wholeheartedly respect. Her little girl’s name is already known by millions, you can’t fault her for seeking normalcy however she can, for herself, and for little Stormi.
