There are tons of delicious brunch spots near the evergreen campus. A poll conducted from @thegreyhoundnews on Instagram revealed students’ top three brunch spots near campus. Over 115 students answered and the results are in.
1. Miss Shirley’s Cafe

Miss Shirley’s Cafe ranked number one in our Greyhound Instagram poll. Its Roland Park location is 513 W Cold Spring Lane, about a 10-minute walk from campus. The restaurant can be distinguished by its orange umbrellas and welcoming atmosphere. Miss Shirley’s is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, bringing back popular menu items and celebrating Baltimore. There are now four locations across the city.
Their unique menu changes twice a year giving students a chance to always try something new. The restaurant’s easy access to campus allowed students to partake in iconic Baltimorean cuisine.
“It is a very family friendly and fun atmosphere. I think the over the top creation that comes out of the kitchen is something that pulls in Loyola students,” Jennifer McIllwain, Director of Marketing at Miss Shirley’s, said.
Corporate Executive Chef Zuri Coles is always crafting new recipes to debut. One of her most recent creations is a Chicken and Waffles Salad. She uses waffles as croutons, fried chicken on top of crispy lettuce with a hot honey dressing to create a unique spin on one of Miss Shirley’s most classic dishes.
“I know the people love our fried chicken, so I am going to make different dishes with our fried chicken. I gather information and go from there,” Coles said.

Some of their best sellers include Coconut Cream Stuffed French Toast, Chicken ‘N Cheddar Green Onion Waffles, and the Get Your Grits On with Blackened Shrimp. Miss Shirleys quirky menu is always changing so make sure to check it out seasonally to try all the different flavors.
Miss Shirley’s offers dine in, takeaway, and Doordash options for students to partake in. Prices typically range from $20 to $30 per meal. Their operating hours are Monday thru Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. They even accept Evergreen meal points as payment.
2. Roland Park Bagels

Coming in at the number two position on our Greyhound Instagram Poll is Roland Park Bagels. The casual bagel shop is located on 500 W Cold Spring Lane and offers an assortment of bagels and other grab and go brunch options. It is approximately a ten minute walk from campus. It has a small coffee shop vibe, and is a great place for students to study and fuel themselves at a reasonable price.
“This place is in the middle of the community and we are able to make our customers smile with the things we provide. Seeing the customers smile, seeing the people that work here are getting along together and growing. I think that’s the best part of it,” owner Sameer Sijpat said.
The owners make fresh bagels every two days and source their coffee from local Maryland brewers. Sijpati said he uses the highest quality ingredients to make sure he can nourish the community in the tastiest way possible. Although he said one of the most enticing parts about Roland Park Bagel is its atmosphere.
“You foster relationships here, come as a friend or neighbor and have a nice safe environment for you to sit down, enjoy, or do your work,” Sijpati said.
Roland Park Bagel offers a variety of brunch options ranging from bagels to burgers. Some of their best sellers include the French Toast Bagel and Mike’s Ruben Sandwich. Additionally, they provide a variety of vegan options. Prices range from $10 to $20 per meal. They are open Monday thru Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
3. Wicked Sisters
Polling in at number three is Wicked Sisters located on 3845 Falls Road in Hampden. Wicked Sisters offers a wide range of dine in brunch options on the weekend. Their menu changes seasonally to keep things fresh. The industrial interior provides a trendy space for students to eat.
“We have an interesting vibe here. I think it’s welcoming to not just young people like students of Loyola, but we have some regulars that come in too,” General Manager Gina Hudson said.

Wicked Sisters is known for their sweet and spicy brussel sprouts to French Toast on the weekend. The McCabe Burger, a signature burger blend on a potato roll is a local fan favorite. They have charmed the community for over nine years with their unique flavors and atmosphere.
The restaurant is the farthest from campus, it is about a seven minute drive. Prices range from $20 to $30 per meal. Wicked Sisters is open Monday thru Wednesday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday thru Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9p.m.
There are many great options near Loyola, but these top three stand out most to students. Each spot offers its own unique vibe and services. Go out and explore the greater Loyola area starting with these restaurants.
