The upcoming “Finding Dory” movie is expected to be released on June 17, 2016. The film is the sequel to the beloved “Finding Nemo” movie, which was released in 2003. The “Finding Dory” movie trailer was released last week on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and on her video website, Ellentube. The trailer immediately generated buzz about the long awaited sequel.
Since its predecessor’s release several years ago, rumors of a second movie have been circulating. When “Finding Nemo” was first released, it was an immediate hit. It received a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was the first movie to exceed the “Lion King” as the highest-grossing animated film. After that, people became hopeful at the idea of a sequel, but many people gave up on the idea because of the seemingly long gap between the two. However, the rumors have been put to rest with the announcement of a release date.
Since the trailer’s release, there has been much excitement about the movie’s premiere in summer 2016. The trailer received more than 15 million views solely on YouTube, and was recognized as the most engaging trailer on Twitter during its release week. The trailer also received more attention than some movies that are premiering this week, which shows the anticipation that fans have for the film.
The new movie will focus on Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres. It will show the adventure that she, Marlin and Nemo will go on as Dory attempts to remember things about her family, and ultimately herself. The story is a beautiful take on finding yourself, finding great people to be around, and ultimately being comfortable in your own skin, whether that be scales or not.
The opening scene of the trailer features the memorable soft theme music of “Finding Nemo,” with Marlin, Nemo, and Dory all sleeping in the same vicinity when suddenly Dory bolts off in another direction. She claims to have remembered something and is on a quest to find out what those things are. The uplifting trailer continues as the group takes off on a journey that will most likely be even more memorable than the last one that they ventured on. When it finally comes to a close , the trailer reminds fans, “This June…just keep swimming.”
