The women’s lacrosse team has found their rhythm as their regular season begins to wind down, winning all of their Patriot League games including a massive win over Navy on the road.
Despite stacking up their undefeated conference record, the team faced their fair share of shortcomings and mishaps. The 2025 season has not been all sunshine and winning, being a grind and roller coaster ride for the Greyhounds.
They are certainly motivated to win and have proved that they can with their many past championship titles. The few losses the Hounds face, however, show up in tight games and usually against ranked opponents. In earlier games against strong opponents such as Syracuse and the University of Pennsylvania, the team lost by less than three goals in both. Putting on good performances despite the pressure they face showed the fighting spirit the team has in the face of strong competition.
“The season definitely did not get off to the start that we wanted being rocky and uncertain, but we stayed optimistic and in a good winning mindset,” Georgia Latch ’25 said.
The Hounds faced seven ranked opponents so far this season and have a record of 2-5 in those games. Chase Boyle ‘25 takes an optimistic approach to the team’s losses against ranked opponents.
“It is something that needed to happen, over the past three years we haven’t been accustomed to losing, and this year we have lost more games than in past years, I think it is only building our character up,” Boyle said.
In her time at Loyola, the Greyhounds have never lost a Patriot League game. Still, Boyle focuses on the positive aspects of their game, rather than dwelling on the hardships that have come up throughout the season.
Boyle is also a Tewaaraton Award watchlist player, which is lacrosse’s version of the player of the year. She returns to the list after being named to it in the 2023 to 2024 season. Her teammates Lily Osborne ‘25 and Latch join her for the 2024 to 2025 season.
The Greyhounds are looking forward to the rest of the season as they feel they are playing their best lacrosse of the year right now. With just one regular season game remaining, the girls feel confident in their chances at making another run in the Patriot League championships and finishing off the regular season strong.
“We want to definitely keep winning, and our aim is to play every game like they are the best team in the country and show to the rest of the conference and country what we are made of,” Osborne said.
This team consistently shows their drive to succeed, winning the Patriot League championship every year since 2019.
“Everyone is trying knock us off the top of the league. We have a target on our back, and with every game we play we get better as a unit and just try to keep improving and building momentum going into the Patriot League playoffs,” Latch said.
As the season is coming to an end, the Greyhounds play an away game at Bucknell University on April 24 at 7PM, broadcast on ESPN+. At the conclusion of the regular season follows the Patriot League Tournament, where the Greyhounds will make a run for their sixth consecutive title.
