Grab some snacks, turn on your night light, and get comfy because this week we are talking about “Ratched.”

Last month, the series “Ratched was released on Netflix. This series is already in the top 10 list of hit series and movies on Netflix. “Ratched” is an adaptation from the classic novel “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Ken Kesey, and it follows the mysterious and thrilling life of Nurse Ratched who works in a mental hospital, Lucia State Hospital, in Northern California in 1947.

The opening scene of the show is rather gruesome and shows the murder of a group of priests by Edmund Tolleson. After the murder, Edmund is given the death penalty and sent to a mental hospital to see if he is fit to stand trial. He is then sent to Lucia State Hospital and is under the care of Nurse Ratched. The series uncovers many secrets and is sure to leave the audience wondering: What could possibly happen next?

“Ratched” is full of secrets, horror, murder, and more. The cinematography and musical score of the show are sure to draw the audience in and make them feel like they are living in the 1940s. Each episode leaves viewers sitting on the edge of their seats wanting more. There are definitely some scenes that are harder to watch for viewers with unease for gore, like the murder of the priests in the first episode or the gruesome stabbings that occur throughout the show. But, despite the gore, the humor and drama from the characters make it worth the watch.

Not only is the show truly captivating, but the cast is full of talented actors. Sarah Paulson gives an incredible performance as Nurse Ratched. The audience can feel the anger, pain, and frustration that her character feels through her amazing acting skills. Finn Wittrock gives a chilling yet charming performance as Edmound Tolleson. His character is terrifying but wears a devilishly charming smile that draws viewers in. Judy Davis as Nurse Betsey is an incredible performance and leaves the audience questioning if they hate her or feel sorry for her. And, we can’t possibly forget Sophie Okonedo who delivers a disturbing yet amazing performance as Charlotte Wells (along with the personalities of baby Taffy, Apollo, Ondine Duquette, and Dr. Richard Hanover) who is a patient who struggles with Dissociative Identity Disorder.

“Ratched” is a binge-worthy and soon to be award-winning series that leaves the audience wanting more. The two-season show is definitely a must-watch of 2020.

The series is available now on Netflix.
