Track team posts top times in Patriot Games

The Loyola track team competed in the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason on Saturday, with several Greyhounds posting times that sit high in the Loyola record books. Senna Ohlsson ‘21 ran the fifth-best 500-meter time in school history, while Kayleigh Caggiano ’20 and Grayce Heinemann ’22 ran two of the top-10 1,000-meter times in Loyola history.

Ohlsson’s time of 1:15.40 in the 500m won her the event. Caggiano’s time of 2:58.52 was the ninth best in school history, while Heinemann’s time of 2:59.71 was the 10th-best in school history.

The 4×400 relay team of Ohlsson, Heather Merrifield ‘20, Courtney Kenny ‘21, and Stephanie Tracy ‘23 made their season debut with a third-place finish. Merrifield also placed fourth in the individual 400m race. Tracy finished ninth while Rachel Koller ‘20 took 10th in the 400m as well. 

Kenny placed seventh in the 200 meters, Megan Daviero ’22 and Julia Vledder ‘22 finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 600m race, and Jordyn Pugh took eighth in the 800m.

Sydney Votruba ’22 and Catie O’Hehir ‘22 finished 17th and 21st in the mile race, while four men’s cross-country runners ran in the distance medley relay. The quarter of Patrick Cropsey ‘22, Charles Dillon ‘22, Nathan Galloway ‘22, and Brandon Rossi ’21 finished sixth in the relay. 

The track team’s next meet will take place at the Villanova Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 1 in Staten Island, NY.
